Decolonizing Mental Health for AAPI Youth & Families Symposium

  • NYU Medical Science Building 540 1st Avenue New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

We are thrilled to announce NYCAAMH’s sponsorship of the upcoming event, "Decolonizing Mental Health for AAPI Youth & Families."

NYCAAMH member Han Nguyen will be facilitating a clinical panel on Decolonized MH with AAPI Clinicians (and NYCAAMH members): Daniel Tanh, Robin Mele, Biba Fullon, and Tristan Vizconde. CEU’s are offered for the virtual morning session of the symposium.

In a time where Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are reflecting on the lasting impact of the COVID pandemic in NYC, this symposium seeks to address the unique challenges faced by the AAPI community in navigating the mental healthcare system.

Organized by passionate advocates, this event will boldly tackle pressing questions about how to reimagine wellness outside of Western biomedicine and confront the systemic constraints that persist in our current mental healthcare system. By celebrating cultural, familial, and community practices as sources of strength while challenging dominant paradigms, this symposium aims to offer a space to collectively grieve our losses, rejuvenate our spirits, and explore innovative paths to wellness. We invite all participants to join us in this crucial conversation as we work together to create a world where systems of care truly serve all communities.

📅 Save the Date: [November 2nd, 9am-7pm ET virtually and @ NYU Medical Science Building] and check out the website to register for this free transformative event!
